The Independent is an ingredient-driven, seafood restaurant and raw bar showcasing the Lowcountry's surrounding local fisherman, farmers, and purveyors. Located on historic Front Street, the restaurant pays homage to the community's former, yet iconic seafood market by the same name, with a seasonal menu of Southern-inspired dishes guided by the region's bounty of fresh seafood.

    The Independant once again knocks it out of the park! My wife and I Visited on Friday for a date night and once again, everything was fantastic. From the drinks, to our appetizers, to our main courses, everything was incredible. Our server, Hunter was fantastic and timely with checking in in us and offering recommendations. We are huge fans of The Independent and will absolutely be back in the near future!

    Unfortunately it took forever to get served drinks T the outside bar. Our server Natasha inside was excellent. Unfortunately our dinner took over 90 minutes to be served and then it was cold when it got to the table

    Food was pretty tasty. Portions were fabulous not too big ambience and hotel just gorgeous. Our server did not choreograph our meal very well against his other tables and it took a lot longer than it should have, and he seemed a little edgy with his attitude toward the experience… The manager did stop by to say sorry it took so long.

    Waited nearly 2h for food. All steaks way overcooked (and I’m not picky). Not worth $500

    “Our second visit in less than a week—and every bit as outstanding as the first! From the moment we arrived 20 minutes early and were greeted warmly at the bar, to the final bites of dessert and settling the check, the service was flawless. Natasha and the entire staff were spot-on once again, making us feel like the most important guests in the room. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality elevated the entire evening. Dining at The Independent is truly a first-class experience and well worth every penny. A must-visit gem on Georgetown’s Front Street in the Historic District. You will not be disappointed. Thank You again, Natasha…Hope to see You Again in the coming months!

    From start to finish, our dining experience at The Independent was nothing short of exceptional. Every detail—from the ambiance to the final bite of dessert—was expertly delivered, making our evening truly memorable. A special shout-out to Natasha, our server, whose service was impeccable. She was attentive, perfectly timed, warm, and professional—never missing a beat. We were so impressed by the outstanding service and the high quality of the food that we’ve already made plans to return just a few days later. The entire staff exceeded our highest expectations, and it’s clear they take pride in creating a flawless dining experience. If you’re looking for a restaurant that will delight you on every level, The Independent will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

    Nice place overall. Food a bit disappointing but okay. Everything else I liked. Very good service. Good atmosphere. I will return to this establishment.

    The restaurant is the place to dine at when in Georgetown You’re greeted by very friendly staff. We sat at the bar for a drink and enjoyed a nice conversation with the bartender When back to secure our table. The manager was aware of who we were and seated us at our table. The server (Taylor) was well informed and presented the menu items with clarity and made recommendations which turned out fabulous. Try the baked oysters and scallops Both were Outstanding. The Independent recognize my birthday (7/4) With a very nice appetizer Manager was gracious and attentive during the dining experience Cannot miss nothing the Peaches and ice cream for dessert ENTIRE staff and food selections were outstanding! Thank you (Manager)for making our dining experience to remember Tom H
