   Having been and enjoyed the ivy in Edinburgh as was looking forward to having the same experience in Harrogate. I was very very disappointed. I booked the steak supper via the website, however when I came into the restaurant there was no mention of this so when I enquired there was reason to get the manager as the waitress assumed I had requested the Sunday roast. Which I clearly had not. If you are using open table to book table please ensure you read the booking - mine clearly stated steak supper. From here the experience went downhill. The waitress in question was then clearly annoyed and was seen by myself to be taking to another member of staff about our table staring and laughing and then this other waiter came over and took the order. I then went to the rest room and the manager who came to the table appeared to be taking to another member of staff about it. I felt extremely intimidated by this.  The food came and I can honestly say was awful. This was  the  steak and chips from the steak supper Sunday offer which should be a good quality from a normally highly rated restaurant. We were asked before ordering how we liked the steak however they both were served without asking how they were cooked and were exactly the same ? It was such poor quality. I am extremely disappointed and have never felt so disconcerting in a restaurant like I did tonight in a restaurant.

   We came here for our anniversary. It was amazing! Staff was polite very and extremely professional. They have many years of experience in high end restaurants with high standards. Every part was amazing start to finish. Thank you so much for looking after us so well and making us feel so special and welcoming.

   I chose the burger with extra cheese and bacon, the burger arrived without cheese. The bacon was over cooked and the burger over done and dry. Left most of the meal.

   Unfortunately the full English breakfast was not up to the normal standard expected of The Ivy. The plates of food were tepid and the fried eggs were solid and had to be sent back. The waiter was very helpful and brought replacement eggs fairly quickly. The quality of the breakfast was mentioned at the end of the meal and the restaurant acknowledged that there had been shortcomings. Hopefully they will have taken the comments on board.

   Despite there being quite a few empty tables myself and my partner were crammed onto a small table for 2 positioned very closely (uncomfortably so) next to other couples on tables for 2. The tables were that close, someone squeezing through the gap to take their seat knocked a drink over. Drinks arrived very quickly and the food arrived minutes later. Very little interaction with service staff, they seemed rushed and a little rude. My partner ordered scrambled eggs with his breakfast but when his meal arrived they were overdone fried eggs. I asked for this to be rectified but no one came back to the table. No one came to ask if everything was ok. Once we had finished eating, the plates were left for a considerable amount of time. After managing to catch someone’s eye we asked for the bill. The bill arrived with a discretionary service charge of 12.5% which I considered to be quite high. I asked for this to be removed which they did without question. Very expensive food and below average quality and service.

   Always a fantastic experience and the Harrogate staff are amazing . Had afternoon tea finally and it didn’t disappoint

   Not the experience we expected. Arrived on time but table wasn’t ready so had to wait 15 minutes. Slow to serve. They tried a couple of times to serve alcohol which doesn’t appeal when driving. Food looked ok for afternoon tea but was mostly sweets only three small sandwiches. The bill came with £9.10p service charge and £5 for a bottle of water which had been opened before being brought to the table. The final bill was more than on the menu and what open table had it noted. The surfaces which had plants on were very dusty and there was a lack of female waitresses only one was seen in all the time we were there. Why?? Sorry but we will not be returning.
