A good friend travelled many miles to meet me. I chose the Ivy as I have been going there ever since it opened in Birmingham and eat in the many Ivy restaurants in London and elsewhere. I trust the menu and the wine list. Today the only things that went wrong were a polite request for the table I usually get or the second best table ( in my opinion). Yet having booked several weeks ago both were taken. When were they booked? Secondly the double espresso arrived cold. It was unlike the Ivy to do that. I have known all the previous managers but not the present one. I must introduce myself at my next visit.

Firstly, thank you very much for being such a loyal guest we very much appreciate your support over the last few years and hope that this will continue. We are sorry that your requested take upstairs was not given on Friday. Our reception team always try to accommodate all table requests whenever possible so we are sorry this was not possible during your visit. Secondly, we are also sorry that your espresso arrived cold to your table. This has been followed up to our bar team to ensure that hot drinks are served straight away. Lovely evening celebrating my birthday. Little bit cold in the downstairs restaurant but food and service was excellent.

The best thing about this place is the decor. Food is extremely overpriced and shockingly poor quality. Nice staff, but my God the food needs some work. Maybe start with some basic seasoning??

The lunch time menu is superb value it felt like a real treat for my elderly Mum and the service from Antoine was fantastic we couldn’t fault our visit
