The Lakeview Restaurant at Old England Hotel & Spa sits on the shore of Lake Windermere and boasts stunning views over the lake and surrounding fells.

Known locally as 'the restaurant on the lake', it offers one of the most impressive views across the water and the food served is as exceptional as the scenery. Our modern British fine dining menu features seasonal dishes that have been carefully created by our head chef using the freshest ingredients.

Booked the restaurant for a valentines night meal with my fiancée. The restaurant itself is a very boring space, the staff were all miserable you really felt that they didn't want to be there trying to get a smile was difficult. The food was edible but nothing to rave about, bit of a let down to be honest we won't return.

Relatively limited menu for long stays but excellent service ( generally). Food is good although I had a steak which was rather chewy.

We booked for a birthday lunch. There was one lady on the bar . The room was busy and she tried to cope but it was not possible . We had some drinks and a bottle of champagne . When we sat down for lunch we were sat at a coffee table . It was poor on so many levels . The place was a joke . We decided to leave and go somewhere else . It ruined what was meant to be a special occasion . We would never go back

We both chose the set menu. 3 courses with good options was excellent value for money. The prawn cocktail was particularly good. The highlight was the sticky toffee dessert which I can honestly say is the best I have ever had. Choices for the main course were not overly exciting but beautifully presented. I opted for the haddock served in a cheese sauce which I enjoyed. The service was excellent, friendly but non intrusive. The dining room was full yet we were served promptly and made to feel welcome. The dining room itself is a special treat overlooking the lake.

Lovely family afternoon tea with a spectacular view of Lake Windermere. Great service and attention was provided by the bar supervisor, Martin. He made our group feel especially welcome.
