The Mash Tun sits beside the River Spey, nestled in beautiful Aberlour. Recently refurbished, it is now a stylish boutique hotel. This historic establishment has been transformed into a beacon of Scottish hospitality, marrying tradition with contemporary luxury.
Our small restaurant offers fine dining without the fuss and a cosy and intimate ambiance.
The whisky bar boasts a magnificent stock of Scottish malts, with a few guest stars from around the world and our own award winning Stalla Dhu range. We also boast our own cigar humidor where guests can choose from an impressive selection of Cuban and New World cigars, to be enjoyed in our enclosed and heated cigar hut!

The food was very tasty and the restaurant is so cozy and comfortable. The servers were a bit inexperienced overall.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience at The Mash Tun for dinner, although from other reviews it seems people like it. Our waitress, Bea, was incredibly rude and short with us as we were ordering. We had some questions about the menu and she kept looking at us like we were crazy for asking and saying things like “you get what’s says there, nothing else.” She seems to always be there because we thought we would give it another try for breakfast and she was there again and still very rude to us. We said please and thank you and I don’t think our question for something like water was unusual but when we would ask something she either would not answer or just grunt and walk away. It was very off putting. Sad because it gets good reviews from others. Would not recommend.

Excellent meal and service great atmosphere some what ruined by an old man shouting at a 2 year old…. Staff handled it very well and apologised for him.. food was superb and great drinks definitely recommend. Recommend a pot noodle in a small corner outside for the angry old man! 100% recommend.

What a great pub and restaurant. The chef produces top rate cuisine and the bar provides a fantastic selection of whisky. What's not to like !

Disappointed that main courses came with limited or no vegetables - irritating to have to order eg potatoes as a side. One waitress (Brea) seemed to be doing almost all the work whilst other 3 staff members twiddled about with their hair and gossiped together.

The service was very chaotic, the staff seemed extremely stressed and running about when the restaurant wasn’t full. The service was not attentive as we have received before on previous occasions. We had to go up to the bar twice to request cutlery to eat our food. One main meal was cold (meat included) when we tried to get the waitress’s attention we were ignored and had to go to the bar to ask for the food to be heated up. Just overall a very average experience, we have eaten here previously and had a good experience but are hesitant to return now.
