Superb birthday treat with the Sunday Carvery option - staff were most attentive and surprised me by offering me a complimentary drink of my choice as I was the birthday girl - very nice! The food was delicious, although the gravy was a little salty but not a problem. I think it's very nice but a little steep on the price that does not include dessert - I think that there could be an inclusive price which would go down well, just make the desserts smaller and guests would enjoy them. The lounge was nice and light and airy - I do think that the toilets could do with a facelift, they were looking rather sorry for themselves - but on the whole, it was a very nice experience. We had not visited for over 30 years, so it was nice to be back in the area and enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Many thanks to all the staff who were very friendly.

Have used the old beams for years when it was part of the Alcatraz group..always very good. Thought we would try it Saturday as hadn’t been there for a long time. The service was ok, staff friendly, but slow taking drinks orders....ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc served a very mediocrely one..would pay a fiver for it in the French supermarket. Food was ok...nothing special. Fish and chips were served well..chips especially nice....husbands sea bass was fine. Will not be rushing back until it’s managed better.

The new landlords are very friendly and welcoming. During our meal the service was very efficient and attentive. The Old Beams is also a lovely pub with comfy arm chairs and sofas surrounding a large central fire place. Well worth a visit.

Booked using open table as travelled over 40 miles to eat here only to be informed booking was not received by the inn restaurant full so had to except a bar room table very low rubbish table, not impressed Sunday carvery was ok but unenjoyable eating in such away . Adding insult was looking forward to tasting the local ale only to be told they were out of beer really not very well organised :( overall an expensive meal in a poor surrounding don’t think I will be returning again.

Was very disappointed, the restaurant smelt musty and needed a good coat of paint . All the chairs where ripped and worn . Food was nice but cold . No hot water in the lady’s . Service was good . Also drinks where on the expensive side pint of larger and a large glass of echo falls wine 13.00 pounds .

We went here as I really wanted to take our Australian friend to a Carvery, but as she is Vegetarian, I also wanted to make sure there were options for her as well as us. The food on offer was fantastic, three different meats for us, and a vegetarian nut roast for her, along with all the trimmings you could ask for, and separate gravy to finish the dish. I will visit again, the value for money for a great size Sunday lunch is wonderful. The chef came around to check everyone was happy with their meal, and seemed genuinely interested in his customers. 5 ***** !

Very pleasant lunch. the 4 of us who visited are all fussy and have eaten in may fine restaurants. The service was really great and better than some of the finest restaurants we have been to in as much as the young lad went as far as to apologize when he arrived at the table and interrupted us. I have recently returned from a very expensive cruise on the QE2 in the top ( Princess Grill) restaurant --- constant interruption by waiting staff -- Perhaps I should suggest to Cunard that they send their staff to you for training. Thoroughly enjoyed the brisket burger .
