The Old Coach and Horses is the Village Pub in the heart of the picturesque village of Harbledown. Just 5 minutes by car from the centre of Canterbury, or a leisurely 15-minute walk. We serve a large selection of local cask ales, lagers and fine wines. A former Coach House on the ancient London to Canterbury road, The Old Coach and Horses has a large upstairs restaurant leading onto a sunny terrace and a sunny terraced garden with fabulous views of the unspoilt woods surrounding Harbledown. Our food is freshly prepared and of the highest quality, using local suppliers and seasonal produce. We pride ourselves on being a ‘village pub’ at the heart of the local community. A sunny garden in the summer and a roaring log fire in the winter, The Old Coach and Horses is always cosy, friendly and informal, but always striving for the best in service and atmosphere and good food.

Unfortunately, we haven't managed to dine in this pub. We booked a table for a family of 4 (including 2 kids), and when we arrived in the pub, there was a note that the pub was closed due to staff issues. Which is very much appreciated, but they could have blocked bookings through opentable for the day or have the courtesy to come outside and inform us about the closure, rather than shouting from the inside of the pub "CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED" and ignoring the fact that we stayed outside of the pub for another 10' waiting for an uber. Can't say anything about food obviously and overall service, most probably will be amazing.

We were seated upstairs by the stairs and music was playing upstairs and different music downstairs which was just a noise in the end. Very noisy at the downstairs bar which didn’t help. Service was polite when there but had to go and order drinks at bar to prompt. Had the salmon and the pastry was completely burnt underneath could eat it.

Appetiser of shrimp was fantastic. Service excellent. Sadly two main dishes out of the six offered were not available. Great atmosphere

The restaurant atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. The food tasted great however, I was disappointed by the portion size of my roast beef dinner, for £19 I expected more than two slices of beef and two roast potatoes to go with my vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. I could have paid an additional £2 for a second meat and more roast potatoes but didn’t as I wrongly thought that my meal would have been of an adequate size. One thing that did concern us was that we asked for tap water, and we were given a bottle. When we poured it out we noticed lots of tiny bits floating around in it so we didn’t drink it.

A lovely pub catering to the local community with good (mostly French) food and welcoming staff. Very attentive to group of young people celebrating a special birthday - thank you!

This was such a beautiful place to have our belated valentine meal and the food was incredible. The staff were so friendly and so attentive to their jobs. It was also nice to be able to thank the owner and his attention to knowing if we had a lovely time. The mirror room was full of art decor and so beautifully calming and warming. Well done for such an amazing place and thank you for making our evening such a wonderful memory.
