                    The food was excellent, the staff were attentive, the all round experience was lovely. Me and the Mrs spent two nights in the hotel which is attached to the restaurant

                    Came with high expectations based on a meal we had here during our last visit to Harrogate. Pretty disappointed and wouldn’t rush back. I ordered the Monkfish Scampi. They brought skinny fries though I had asked for the hand cut chips and I had to wait for these to be cooked. I am not sure how they managed it but the fish was overcooked whilst the batter was soggy and undercooked. The chips were passable - we make better at home. Tiny pot of thick unappetising mushy peas. Best thing was the tartare sauce. Husband had the ribs with skinny dries. Said ribs were ok but unimpressed with chips which were pretty flabby. Bill for two meLs, one small glass of decent red and two pints of IPA £68 including tip - quite a lot to pay for very basic food.

                    Fabulous atmosphere and decor. Warm and welcoming. Outstanding customer service. Food was great with portion size spot on. Highly recommend.

                    Great ambience & setting in what looks like a garden full Of blooms . Staff were friendly & helpful. Ordered a starter of gratineed scallops in their shells: plump juices & tasty . This bode well for the rest of the meal . Ordered a loin of pork fillet wrapped in Parma ham mashed pots & broccoli as a main . This wasnt such a success as the pork was raw and undercooked - could not eat it ! I did feed this back - the chef insisted it was “acceptable “ for pork to be that pink . Pink yes: undercooked & raw - NO ! They did offer me a dessert for free but I wasn’t hungry so declined . But it did take the shine off the meal .

                    It’s a very welcoming restaurant and bar with good food. We really liked our starters of goats cheese soufflé and crispy beef followed by squash gnocchi and beef n ale pie. Great shoestring fries too.

                    Booked this pub on the off chance & so happy we did! A lovely vibe and great food! Would highly recommend the Indian & Lebanese sharer & the half rack of ribs.

                    I went for the steak & ale pie. It was served with mash, gravy & two cold & tiny broccoli spears. The latter was replaced upon complaint. It was all delicious! Thank you!

                    It was ‘okay’. We wanted it to be better but it was ‘okay’. It started off poor as our table wasn’t ready so they managed to knock up a table for two which unfortunately was a high table and not very comfortable. When we asked if we could move to another table which was not being used and was the regular height, we were told no, and that particular table had been reserved by someone specifically asking for a low table ?(bit odd to have to specify low or high table at booking, we didn’t know this was an option here ?). Anyway, once another regular height table came free we asked once more and we managed to swap tables. The manager did oblige and we had a nice meal. The service and meal afterwards was good so after a hiccup at the start it turned out alright. Just a little odd that you book specific tables during booking, if you don’t want to eat perched up ask specifically for a regular / low table to avoid disappointment.
