A nice place - country style pub with a lovely log fire in bar as we came in - a shame they hadn’t lit the one in the dining room as was cold in there without it and could have done with that to feel more of a Xmas ambience. We booked for Xmas meal for 4 pre order festive menu - was not as good as we hoped considering their normal home cooked food is usually very good! This felt more catering company style and could have been better done themselves if home made - not a large selection of veg on our roast at all and not a great Xmas pud - dry! None the less, it is good value for money for the food at £34 per head. We felt a bit fuelled with drinks between and with long waits to ensure they made money in the bar. Not ideal for non drinkers, but we did have a few so worked in our case. Overall a fair price and reasonable meal, but wouldn’t do the set menu with this pub again based on this visit. We much prefer their own menu and would visit again for the home made food.

Lovely village pub - a warm welcome from the bar staff. A full menu if you want it but the ‘lunch menu’ was a steal at £11.50 for a quite substantial meal and a pint / glass of wine. Can highly recommend the fish finger sandwich !

One of the best Sunday lunches we have had in a long time. Great service. Great choice of drinks available. Cannot fault the food

Having not been to the plough after not such a good experience a year or so back I'm happy to report things have improved somewhat and I would be happy to return. Still a few little issues with the food and service that would turn those 4 stars into 5. Nothing major,I had the Sunday roast beef which was a generous portion, perfectly succulent and well cooked. The gravy was delicious and the side of green vegetables also well presented and fresh. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings however need some work,spend a little more effort getting these items to the standard of the beef and we're talking 5 stars here. It was a short notice booking,so I'm grateful to have been able to dine there and the pub itself is a nice,clean place with good service. The other slight blip was that they never registered my dessert order and so after waiting 15 minutes I asked where it was and it was admitted the order wasn't put in. Very apologetic and offered to bring one immediately but we were looking to leave at this point so I declined. But overall I would recommend from this visit and if the couple of issues I mentioned could be improved upon I would be back much more often.
