The Red Lion Inn fue inaugurado en 1773 y goza de una excelente reputación por su soberbia comida y su genuina hospitalidad rural. Estas tradiciones las mantiene a día de hoy el jefe de cocina Brian J. Alberg, cuya gastronomía contemporánea hunde sus raíces en la historia y la cosecha de la región. El chef Alberg se centra en productos frescos locales y apoya decididamente a los productores de la región. Para ello actualiza con regularidad los menús del Inn con los frutos de cada temporada. Podrá elegir el salón principal, la acogedora Widow Bingham's Tavern, el pub informal Lion's Den o, en los meses de verano, el patio lleno de flores. La carta de vinos incluye más de 450 referencias y ha obtenido el Award of Excellence de Wine Spectator durante 10 años consecutivos. We love Red Lion. So nostalgic. Dorothy our server was wonderful! Food delish. Salads, chicken pot pie and turkey dinner. Yum yum

Ordered burrata salad. The cost was $21 and was a small bow of tomato, a couple of very small slices of peaches and maybe five leaves of arugula. I had to ask the server for a bowl of extra arugula. Our serve seemed spread to thin as there was a lot of time between order and service. My companion’s lunch was not correct. The service and quality has definitely declined over the years and frankly we go for the iconic venue.

If you go, be sure to specify you want the Main Dining Room. We were in the Tavern which is dark and musty and decidedly unappealing. The key to know is: Lunch in the Main Dining stops at 3:00 and it doesn’t reopen until 5:30. The lunch menu in the Tavern ends at 3:00 and after that, it’s burgers & snacks. I assume the Tavern has a dinner menu later in the evening. NONE of this is clear on the website. We made a reservation for a late lunch at 3:00. Fortunately, we arrived early or we would have been stuck with the burgers & snacks menu.

What a great location, great ambiance, I’ve been here many times over the decades. Service was extremely slow at lunch; took a half an hour to make a salad and two sandwiches and the food all arrived lukewarm. Confused. My dish was missing the grilled lemon and the stone fruit in the salad was two slivers of peach. Just…it was fresh but middling. Mildly disappointed but will hope it was a one off day.

We love the red lion Inn! We had a party of 12 on the day after the Fourth of July, and the restaurant was pretty busy. Food was excellent, although the lobster roll could use improvement. The service was pretty slow, as we were there until 3:00 PM for our noon reservation. I do believe that is due to being understaffed. That being said, our server, Annette, was fantastic!

The menu is limited. The food was delicious, in particular, the beet salad. It’s a very old,traditional inn, but there are no dress requirements.
