The Robin Hood in Clacton-on-Sea is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar. The site on which the inn stands was the Brooker farmhouse, which was originally known as a building called 'Feveralds' or 'Brewers' which had belonged to the Reynolds family 300 years ago. The date the building was constructed;1823, can be seen engraved into the stone above one of our fireplaces today.

Vintage Inns are usually nice quality, but my Sunday Roast was under par. The beef wasn't a nice flavour, the parsnips tasted of the tin they were roasted in and the Roast potatoes were a bit leathery. Never been here before so don't know if it was the norm They can't get right every time, but wouldn't be put off by today's experience.

Booked a table for 7pm, not ready until 7-45pm and no explanation or apology was offered. Food and ambience good but service was a bit hit and miss despite the restaurant not being particularly busy.

The Robin Hood had no record of our booking from OpenTable and were too busy to provide us with a table (apparently we weren't the only people that this had happened to). This totally ruined Mothers Day for both my Wife and my Mother.

Good food but was quite busy for a Wednesday evening, so the food was a little slow arriving. Worth waiting for.

Lovely pub with great staff, has a great atmosphere buzzing without the need to shout to be heard. Food was very good, served promptly and was hot which so rarely happens these days. The test for me is if my kids eat all their dinner and they did, so full marks. Looking forward to going back again soon....

We had a lovely meal, we decided to go off the Valentine Menu. We had a sharing starter, it was amazing. We certainly not disappointed , great food and great service.

Great food and great service. Took my parents last night for my Mums birthday. Great service and the food was excellent at great prices too. I had Lamb Koftas to start which I’d recommend. Parents had Tomato and Mascarpone Soup and the GarlicMushrooms which they were both very complimentary about. Service was fast with not too much hassle and accurate which is always good. Very friendly and willing to help. The mains were big - I had the rib eye steak which was excellent and Parent’s had the Steak Pie and The Chicken and Thyme pie which were both Home made and were huge. Great fillings in both and they would definitely recommend both. They were so big we unfortunately didn’t have room for Dessert. Really nice place and will definitely be back soon.
