Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. Too quiet. There was no ambience. I usually go to W&V, but thought I’d try you instead. I had to constantly ask to order something, it was too quiet - music needed to be louder and staff a little more professional.

4 of us ate at the restaurant for a pre Christmas lunch . The food was good . The service from our waitress was excellent; she was efficient, pleasant , hospitable and welcoming. However our experience was marred by the unwelcoming Manager/ Owner who was impatient as we were choosing our meals suggesting our food could be delayed if we didn’t choose quickly . Her response to one member of our party who wanted more information on a particular dish was dismissive and unhelpful . No attempt was made to offer alternative dishes. Everything seemed like too much trouble! We were also aware of another couple with a small child being treated rudely as they arrived before us. They left shortly after obviously having been treated badly at their table by the Manager/ Owner. It made us feel quite uncomfortable. We have been to this restaurant many times before but feel wary of a future visit.

I've been here before and wasn't disappointed as outstanding food and service. I really can't fault this restaurant at all as all the party of 4 unanimously agreed about the high standard with a friendly welcome and non fussy service.

This was our first visit to the Tannin Level. First impression was very good until we were told our 7:45pm table wasn’t ready and asked to wait, then another couple who came in behind us said they had a 8:00pm reservation and then were seated before us. We had a short wait, before being taken to our table. Which was in a draughty corner. Our waiter was very pleasant and made us smile. The food was very good and the wait time for the food to be served was not a problem. The presentation was very good.

I eat @ The Tannin level a few times a year and although i recognised choices on the menu they had been changed slightly which gives the diner a point of difference with favourites Excellent as always
