As you would expect from a restaurant nestled on the coast of Northumberland, we have cast out the net when it comes to freshly caught local seafood. Our emphasis on local produce and ingredients doesn’t stop on the shoreline. Northumberland is blessed with some of the best butchers to be found anywhere in the world, all priding themselves on supplying the highest quality meats from local marts.

Join us on Thursday 13th March for a very special seafood tasting event. Enjoy a specially designed five-course tasting menu, that showcases the delicate flavours of the sea - a true celebration of our local seafood! For this event, we are delighted to have partnered with Hatch Mansfield, known for their premium wines from independent, family-owned producers. Each course will be paired with a carefully chosen wine to enhance the smells, tastes and flavours to match each course. Bookings are available from 4:30 pm.

A quiet Monday evening in February but the WH was busier than expected according to the excellent staff who, despite clearly working at full throttle, were polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was of a high standard and very plentiful. The atmosphere was refined, conversation easy and the nice fire only added to the general enjoyment of good food and wine in a cozy and relaxed establishment that clearly knows how to treat its customers.

The food was average, which was a shame as we were expecting more based on the menu and general setting. However, a constant pungent smell from the drains throughout the meal was extremely off-putting. The venue clearly has an issue with its drains as we’ve eaten here in the past and experienced the same thing - in the back rooms. We will not be returning.

Just felt a bit out of it all sat at a table in a back room that would have been ok if there were other people there but I understand logistics would have played a part here

Lovely food but let down by the cold food. I know many others on other tables complained. Would be 5 star otherwise.

A very enjoyable visit for the Game Tasting event. Lovely decor and tables nicely spaced, really comfortable ambiance. Excellent service from the staff,attentive and friendly,happy to accommodate our request of a little more time between courses And finally the menu... outstanding value for money. We enjoyed every course, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. A nightcap in the bar rounded off a lovely evening...we will definitely return.

A game themed meal. All courses were lovely. Service was excellent and wine pairing was great and was good value.

Absolutely fabulous. We had been craving a great meal out for a long time and it was such a treat to be able to bring our dog with us. Took some stress out of trying to sort him out for the evening! And then to have an amazing dinner with food that was expertly prepared and presented was just ideal. Super friendly service and so relaxed and enjoyable. Will certainly come again and will definitely recommend to others.

We ate in the bar. Fish and chips and the burger. Both were outstanding. Fish and chips were on offer at £10 - so fresh and excellent value for money. Service was great. Highly recommend
