The Turks Head is the oldest pub in the heart of Penzance town. Unspoiled by contemporary design and décor, this soul-soothing, local pub offers a fresh, seasonal menu coupled with local craft beverages, all of which can be enjoyed in our shanty style, west-country setting. Our secret garden is a hidden retreat that begs for any passing explorer or local Kernow folk to enjoy. Take in the crisp sea breeze blowing in from the Quay just a stone's throw away with a refreshing drink in hand.

    Cosy and welcoming, the Sunday roast was delicious, just what was needed after a stormy walk in Penzance!

    We enjoyed our meal, we had roast lamb and turkey. The lamb didn't come with enough veg and a side dish of veg would have been welcome. The service was good, but tables were crammed in and we could hear the conversations on other tables, so not the ambience we were expecting although the pub is charming. We don't mind the hum of pub chatter, but our table was so close to the other we cld hear every word. I noticed the room below was empty and full of tables so it would have been nice to offer more space, as it was available. Also there was a dog at the next table that yapped a few times and we don't agree with dogs in restaurants, its a hygiene issue.

    Food and service was good but could have been better. The lamb on the main course was very well cooked with no pink meat at all, they then forgot to deliver one desert. Unfortunately there was a group of 4 males in the bar who were slightly intoxicated and being extremely loud and swearing constantly to the point that several customers moved seats away from them.

    Always a joy to visit the Turks Head when we’re on holiday. Fabulous atmosphere in the cosy bar area where friendly locals mix with tourists. Bar staff are super efficient with always a smile and the food is excellent. I think we’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu over the last few years and without exception they’ve all been wonderful in every aspect, and great value too. You Must visit. Actually, please don’t as we want to be able to book next time we’re here!

    If you are looking for a good quality lunch at a very fair price then the Turks Head delivers. Had the fish and chips with a pint of Timothy Taylor’s and went home happy!
