Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. Pasta dishes are also popular with diners at Uncle Bacala’s, with options including the baked penne gratin with pancetta and cheese in a creamy sauce and the zucchini linguini fra diavolo, all of which can be made gluten free.                                                                                                             We arrived 5 minutes early and were met by Peter at the reservation counter. He informed us it would be a short wait, so we had a cocktail at the bar. Ten minutes later, we were seated at a very comfortable table in the middle of the restaurant. My wife had a burnt broccoli dish to start, and I had an order of baked clams. Both were delicious. I had the Barolo Short Ribs for dinner. They were cooked in a red wine and the meat fell right off the bone. Succulent! My wife had the chicken caprese which she thoroughly enjoyed. Both portions were plentiful as we both took food home. I just want to thank Peter for a wonderful night. Last time we had a little issue with a gift certificate. Peter really made up for it which we really appreciated. Nowadays restaurants really do not take extra care of there customers like they should. Not so with Uncle Bacala’s. They really made us feel at home and appreciated. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for your special occasion or just a nice , delicious meal. Thanks again Peter for making us feel at home! See you soon.

                                                                                                            The service was amazing. Food is top quality and the presentation was as good as any top Italian on the North Shore of Long Island.

                                                                                                            We went there for my birthday, and as usual, the food was outstanding. Plus, my wife asked for something made to order, and they could oblige.

                                                                                                            What a treat! This was our first time at the restaurant, much to the surprise of Harmon, our waiter and Peter and the lovely manager walking around and overseeing your experience. The food was plentiful, Caesar salad for the table, entrees ranging from Fra Diablo seafood, orechetti , broccoliraab and sausage, pappadell with a veal and mushroom ragu. The best was the Gluten Free Eggplant parmigiana which my friend said was outstanding. She was also able to eat the ‘crust less’ pecan pie for dessert. The noise level is loud but if you’re sitting next to some fun people the experience is so much fun.

                                                                                                            Can’t beat the delicious food and the wonderful service! Love bringing my book club, family or friends with me for an amazing lunch or dinner! Highly recommend this restaurant!

                                                                                                            We always enjoy our meal here! We brought some friends who never went before, it was a big hit! I will admit, the cotton candy at the end is always a nice surprise for people!
