Upstairs at Landrace is a casual neighbourhood bar & bistro, our food is led by ingredients which are carefully sourced from local farms and market gardens, we work with producers who have a natural approach to growing and use regenerative, high welfare farming techniques. The menu regularly features handmade pasta, line-caught Cornish fish and meat from Haye Farm in Devon, and Huntsham Farm in Herefordshire.
You can join us for a quick plate of pasta at lunchtime or a longer celebratory meal with friends & family in the evening. Our menu changes regularly, you can find sample menus updated weekly on our website.

The wine/cider list changes regularly, focusing on small European growers and makers. All our wines have been made following low intervention organic/biodynamic practices. We also pour many local naturally made ciders and perrys. Our soft drinks are made in house showcasing seasonal cordials, and aperitif/digestif offerings can bookend your meal if desired.

    Unfortunately this experience was poor. Over priced small plates with limited choice and only one main other than pasta. The salt cod and leek was served as 2 whole leeks on a plate and the cutlery couldn’t slice through. So the stringy layers were inedible. Service was attentive and waiter helped with the wine choice. However, when we raised the issue regarding the inedible food, nothing was said or offered in exchange.

    We ate at the Landrace for NYE. Lovely location and the restaurant had a good feel to it. We sat in the first seating area which felt slightly separate from the main seating area but still nice. Food was good but fairly familiar to where we’ve been before although was done well. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well but most of the vegetable based dishes served were room temperature/cold as well as a braised leak dish which was certainly borderline cold. Although we were told it was meant to be served in this way so may have just been our preference. We were happy with the service but felt the food was average for the price. Might’ve been due to busyness of NYE so may give it another go at some point.

    We had pre Christmas Sunday lunch and the food was exceptional for both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Service was relaxed but attentive and the atmosphere was friendly.

    We were dining to celebrate my son’s 21st so we were a table of four; the general arrangement perhaps suits couples better than it does larger groups but the staff were terrific, friendly and helpful. The establishment is quirky, an absolute delight although perhaps not best suited to the infirm as the toilets were a slight trek (but again beautifully quirky). The menu changes frequently and the staff were keen to explain any queries that we had. The general arrangement was that food was brought with the intention of sharing, bigger servings than tapas style but the principle was similar. It’s been a week since we were there and I’m still not sure what course was my favourite:- the food is absolutely top quality and clearly served with love, care and attention. Loved it utterly and will definitely be back.

    The food was over priced, pretentiously advertised and we were expecting for something amazing...which is why we were prepared to pay £120 for lunch (with one glass of wine) for three people. However, the food was dull, unbalanced (leeks with very heavy mustard sauce that was almost unpalatable and chopped egg). It had the hallmarks of being something special, but in actuality it was simply ill-planned and not remotely tasty. Couldn't have been more disappointed as we are huge fans of their absolutely excellent bakery downstairs.

    It’s small and upstairs and friendly and welcoming. Menu designed to be for sharing, small(er) and larger dishes. Generous portions: between 3 we had 3 smaller and 2 large and over ordered. (Leftovers now in my fridge….) Everything delicious, good ‘simple’ tastes (ie not over-fancy and yet not easy to do) and beautifully cooked. Charming service.
