Welcome to Varia, a Romantic, Upscale Italian Restaurant in Norfolk.
Varia, our Italian restaurant and wine studio, features wine by the glass and a pianist six nights a week. Indulge in homemade pasta, freshly tossed pizzas from our brick oven, or signature Italian desserts like the tiramisu. Varia's modern Italian fare is made from only the best local ingredients and the wine studio features over 100 hand-selected wines, including 50 by the glass.
The dining room's intricate finishes and the warm glow of its reclaimed chandelier, formally of the Historic Cavalier's ballroom, offers an intimate ambiance that invites conversation over a full bodied merlot. Guests can book the ultra private dining room only accessible by hidden doors in the bookshelves for special events.

I brought my girlfriend here as a celebratory dinner for her starting nursing school after reading many great reviews and seeing them on norfolks restaurant week. The food was phenomenal. She got the marinated sirloin that ended up being as tender as a filet, and I got the 24 hour pork chop, which had excellent flavor with the sauce it came with. Finished off the evening with their blackberry cheesecake, and can say it was delicious as well! I am a huge cheesecake fan and try it at almost every restaurant we goto. However, the only bad thing was the seating. Reading online, they have live music by a pianist, or last night was a musician playing jazz, and nice decorations and ambiance. We were not able to enjoy really any of it. We got seated right in the corner as soon as you walk into the restaurant, with a curtain and lounge section behind us, and behind that was what I felt like the actual restaurant, so seeing any of the live music or decorations was out of the question. Sure we could have asked for a different table closer, but I feel like you shouldn't have to. Overall, we will be back, but I will request different seating if possible.

Food: The entrees were good. We got sirloin, eggplant, pizza, and chicken marsala. The marsala was the best, the pizza very very good! The desserts were terrible. Upon introduction our lovely waitress advertised a “flaming” tiramisu, but once asked for it, they said that they could not do it. We found that odd. The non-flaming tiramisu was just mostly cream..honestly worst tiramisu I’ve ever had. Service: Not Audrey’s fault! She is a gem. However, they were absolutely understaffed. The kitchen was very slow. We waited a long time at every interval. Sat down at 5 and walked out at 6:50 for a simple family meal. We believe it was over rated. Hopefully just an aberration but we will not be in a rush to return.

Fantastic experience, start to finish. Service was very prompt, food was INCREDIBLE. perfect spot for a date night. Highly recommend and will be back!

Get a coat rack. It's winter, folks are wearing long / heavy coats and don't want to have to sit on them while eating a $300 dinner.

Beautiful and chic space. The appetizers were divine especially that they were accommodating in adding an ingredient to the bruschetta that is not included on the menu. Entrees were perfect and tasty. The drinks did their job. I left happier than I came.

Was supposed to be a 4 course meal. They were behind on getting food out so it turned into a 3 because they brought out two at one time and the portions were so big you couldn’t eat it all and it was cold. But overall it was good.
