Bath Spa Hotel’s Vellore Restaurant was once the magnificent ballroom of the original house, built in the 1800’s. It’s now an award-winning and elegant dining room with tranquil outdoor terrace. Our celebrated Executive Head Chef has created a stunning à la carte menu using the very best seasonal ingredients – a creative fusion of traditional and modern English cooking.
Offering a Tasting Menu and Chef’s Table Menu, you can also enjoy Lunch and Afternoon Tea in beautiful surrounds in this quiet and peaceful corner of Bath city centre.

The food was lovely once it came. We were a party of 4, 2 mains arrived without one side dish way before the other two meals. In fact one of the mains was finished when the other two arrived with the side dish for the one finished. The steaks arrived without chips which we had to ask for. 3 Desserts arrived not 4. In the morning the wait for breakfast was a good 30mins. We waited 45 mins for a sandwich and panini's at lunchtime! Great food if you have plenty of time.

This is the first time I’ve ever complained at a restaurant. The service was awful - drinks took about 30 mins to come (were forgotten about, were only brought to us when the waiter realised we still didn’t have them), food also took ages and we weren’t checked up on at all without us getting the attention of the staff ourselves. Ordered two steaks, one rare on medium rare, both came blue and we had to ask for a replacement for the medium rare one as my girlfriend couldn’t eat it blue. The replacement took another 30 mins. We also ordered a side of broccoli that just never came. After being in there for two hours and only having mains I asked for the manager who told us we would not be charged. There were at least another 5 tables complaining about the wait time and service, we also had breakfast the next day as it was included in our booking and the service was just as bad. For the prices of the items on the menu, standards need to be a lot lot higher.

Unfortunately we were unable to eat in the restaurant as it was freezing cold, something needs to be done about this, others were complaining to.. it’s a real shame as food looked great and it’s a lovely place but a few mini heaters dotted around with such high ceilings are just not enough.

This was disappointing. The menu option was changed from cod to salmon but they only admitted it when we challenged them and the tenderstem broccoli was changed to calabrese - both cheaper options. After some negotiation we had the cost of the main course refunded but surely this is not how a restaurant of this quality (and cost) should behave.

They weren’t expecting us. The restaurant was closed. We had to eat in a corridor. It was cold. Other guests dressed in dressing gowns. Food was extremely poor. No fresh turkey , just processed meat. Staff rushing around us preparing for a wedding. The noise of a vacuum cleaner most of the time from the room next door. No ambience. An extremely disappointing start to our Christmas festivities.

Hotel only gave a supplement of £30pp and the al a carte menu would have not been covered eg: lamb chop £34. There was nothing on this menu really to cover the £30pp. Luckily there was a festive menu at £40pp for three course meal therefore only had to pay an additional £10pp. Starter of soup was very small ( 3-4 spoonfuls) and a very small piece of bread, to follow was a very large plate of Xmas dinner and the dessert was nice as well. Overall best to have the festive menu. Only downside was they give you the full bill to pay and when you check out refund you? Also they added sevice charge and we were guests at hotel
