White Dog Cafe's newest location brings local, seasonal, and sustainable dining to Chester County. The original Vickers Tavern has been completely renovated, and the White Dog Cafe has preserved the building's history while adding chic farmhouse aesthetics and dog-themed decor. The restaurant features seven distinct dining rooms, each with its own unique personality and design. In addition, there is an expansive outdoor patio with a gas fireplace and retractable cover. The open Barn room includes a large oval bar, a sitting area by an open fireplace, and doors leading to the outdoor potting shed. The menu includes several White Dog staples, such as Kennett Square Mushroom Soup, Double Cheddar Burger, Lamb Bolognese, Truffle Fries, and house-made bread baskets from local farms, alongside new additions.

    Food was just ok. Fish was good but Roasted vegetables were extremely undercooked. Also we had a late reservation (8:30) and felt they rushed us to order.

    Our server Kaitlin was excellent. The food was delicious. The nonsense we went through to be seated was absolutely ridiculous. We arrived at 6:45 PM for a 7:15 PM reservation. We were told we may be seated 15 minutes early and to consider having a drink at the bar. At 7:15, we were told our table was being set. At 7:30, we were told they thought we didn't want to be seated because we were having a drink at the bar and we were to come to the front desk when we wanted to be seated. We did at 7:15 PM. Then, we were told we'd be seat momentarily. Finally, we were seated at 7:45 PM.... after approximately 75 people were seated ahead of us. By then, there were multiple empty tables througout the restaurant. Maybe the issue is you shouldn't have 5 hostesses greeting peopple when one has no idea what the other is doing and or telling the customers. Merry Christmas Eve! Our last time dining at The White Dog in Chester Springs for sure!!

    Our Waiter Chris was outstanding. Kind, professional and efficient. My Wife and I had the flounder picata which was outstanding. Enjoyed our meal and the service. Highly recommended.

    The drinks were great, especially the espresso martinis. Appetizers were good. The snack board was plentiful and most of the cheeses in the cheese board were tasty. The main course had mixed reviews. The flounder piccata was excellent. However, the pasta with shrimp and scallops was not good. Even after putting a ton of cheese on top, it still had no taste. Thankfully, they took it off the bill. In all, the service was excellent, but the food was a fair value.

    Always has been a treat and an enjoyable experience to dine at White Dog. We were two couples dining together. We were surprised to learn, from our server, that splitting the check - between couples - was now frowned upon and discouraged! What?? We were able to get separate checks but only after insisting a bit. Beyond ridiculous. Someone needs to rethink that silliness.
