Yohei Sushi KAHALA is the second restaurant of Yohei Sushi Restaurant, opened in 1990 by Kazuto Obara, the founder and Sushi chef. Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a modern setting, our Omakase courses and seasonal à la carte dishes feature fresh ingredients sourced from Hawaii and directly from Japan.
We offer pairing with sake and wine for a complete experience.
Indulge in a unique Omakase course, beginning with our essential "Ichiban dashi" and experience our original dishes inspired by Hawaiian culinary culture.

The sashimi was so delicious and fresh it melts in your mouth. This was my second time dining here and ordered from their lunch set Zen menu. Everything I ate and drank so far has been amazing. The sashimi, steamed rice, red miso, pickled side dish, potato salad, tempura, soba, teriyaki salmon, steamed egg custard, and their Kauai blue mountain coffee was top tier. My friends and family really enjoyed their meals and iced teas just as much as I did. Servers are nice, attentive, and polite. And I love a super clean restaurant with a super clean restroom! I’ll be back again whether it be for a special occasion or whenever I want to treat myself to something special- which is quite often!! Highly recommended!

The anniversary special was amazing! $220, normally $280 pp. we aren’t usually stuffed after omakase, but this menu was so big! Lots of sushi and a “tapas” course. Bonus piece of sushi (uni, o-toro included) as well as a free drink and desert and coffee or tea too

From the moment we stepped into Yohei Sushi Kahala, we were embraced with warmth and hospitality. Chef Takeyuki Nakagawa and the attentive waitstaff made us feel not only welcome but genuinely cared for. Their warmth elevated our entire experience. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between refined minimalism and traditional elegance, enhancing every bite. While every course was meticulously crafted and delicious, two standout favorites stole the show: the Hokkaido Uni Risotto, a comforting and luxurious dish with depth and umami, and the selection of sushi, each piece executed with precision and purity. Adding to the magic of the evening was a gentle light show, a visual element that complemented the experience without overshadowing the cuisine. The thoughtful gifts we received throughout the evening added playful charm and a deeply personal touch to the omakase. But above all, what truly stayed with us was the genuine kindness of Nakagawa-san and the team. My girlfriend and I left not just full, but emotionally moved by the level of artistry and care they poured into their craft. If you're seeking a sushi experience that goes beyond taste--into the realm of memory and emotion--Yohei Sushi Kahala is a must.

For those looking for an amazing omakase experience in town. Yohei delivers with excellence. Each bite was delightfully delicious, and the pacing was very attentive, allowing for rests between bites without leaving you waiting hungry for long. The service was relaxed and attentive as well. The restaurant also has an amazing refreshments section. I had delicious beer, sake, and tea! I would definitely come back!

Excellent food! It was our first time eating at this restaurant with our entire family because we previously thought they only had a fixed price menu. We are from the ala carte menu. We were pleasantly surprised that the fish was SUPER high quality and incredibly delicious and not over priced. Beautiful decor. Attentive service. High-end experience. 10 out of 10 would recommend. And we will be back soon!

Some of the sushi rice was hard and I had to spit it out 😆 Did they use yesterday’s rice? And they didn’t know we had a reservation until later on. Their one year anniversary special was good 👍
