Rocky Bottoms

Eventually the brick kiln was unable to compete with larger competitors and closed down after WW2. Since this time the brick kiln has offered itself as agricultural storage until it collapsed and stood derelict.
In 2008 the brick kiln’s potential and need of restoration was spotted by local fishing family; The Matthews. After years of love and attention, Rocky Bottoms, as we know it today was born. Our doors opened in May 2015, just in time for the start of the crab season. We deliver local shellfish from pot to plate in a laid back environment. We have a great bar area, with a roaring log burner in winter, two dining areas and a lounge.
We are dog friendly but we ask that Fido is kept on leads at all times. Dogs are permitted in the bar, bar dining area and garden, but not in the lounge and main dining room.
A great place for a drink and mardle with locals at the bar, a stop over on your walk or an evening meal. We have something for everyone at the Ship.

A true hidden gem, Sculthorpe Mill is a breath taking pub buried in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside built atop the River Wensum. Originally a watermill dating back to 1757, it has been lovingly restored by sisters Siobhan and Caitriona Peyton and they have created a haven for foodies and pub lovers alike, as well as one of the best pub gardens in Norfolk. This is a stunning contemporary dining pub, complete with chic bedrooms and a menu of expertly crafted modern British dishes.
Sculthorpe Mill’s seasonal menu changes regularly to make the most of Norfolk’s bountiful produce and all our core ingredients are locally sourced, foraged from land and sea before being passionately turned into award-winning dishes.
Come spring and summer, our garden is the ideal pace to enjoy an evening meal alfresco, or even just a crisp glass of rosé as you listen to the rush of the river or the buzzing of bees in the flower garden.
Marlings Bar and Grill
