   We love Roy’s. Our server was fantastic! I would ask for her every time! Chicken spring rolls and the ribs were fantastic as were the entrees. My favorite place to eat on Hawaii! Thanks for the great meal.

   We have a terrible experience at that night, first, the food was actually good. However, the service was extremely disappointing and ruined the overall experience. After dinner, we placed an order for dessert, but it never came. We waited for an entire hour, only to find out that our server never even put in the order. Even worse, the server disappeared after taking the dessert order, and no one else checked on us or asked if we needed anything. We were just left sitting there, completely ignored. Eventually, we gave up, asked for the check, and discovered the oversight. It’s a shame because the food deserves better service to match. We won’t be coming back.

   The initial reception was obscure, we had a 630p reservation. We arrived 15min early, hoping to get seated early and enjoy a couple drinks. But, the receptionist said to comeback at 630p. When we came back, we still had to wait. The food was tasty and plentiful. The service initially good. The server was soft spoken, but then we were lost in the center of the room. The runners brought our food and was very quick. After the meal, and the assisting wait staff cleaned our table. We had no communication from our server, sitting for 25 minutes waiting. Then after flagging the manager down, we voiced our comments. Then finally our deserts came, and the server acknowledged us. Overall, the food was really good. Service was mediocre.

   We came for an anniversary dinner and weren’t disappointed but we weren’t enthused either. The location and the view were the best part of the dinner. Otherwise, we saw our waitress 3 times total - first to tell us she was running behind but would be there shortly to take our drink orders, then to get our drink and food orders, and finally to drop off the check. The steaks were overcooked which seems like the most basic thing a steakhouse should be able to get right but the seasoning and everything was really good so it was fine. We weren’t about to send steaks into the trash just so they could take longer and potentially be overcooked again. The drinks were good but nothing to write home about. We’ve been to a Roy’s before (which is now closed) and that was a better experience. Whoever is running this one needs to either hire more staff or they need to have higher standards. Paying that much for dinner only to leave feeling “meh” about the whole thing is not great.

    Everything was top class. Our waitress Nettie and her bidders and servers were fabulous. My husband held the front door open and the chef walked in and he sent us a beautiful and delicious appetizer to thank him. That’s service!!! Will go there again next trip.
