The Sheldon Inn offers an unparalleled fine dining experience, perfect for any celebration or night out. This is our second visit to the Sheldon Inn and much like last time the food was delicious and well executed. I would describe the menu type as elevated, "comfort classics." My husband loved his beef stroganoff and my father-in-law raved about his Niman Ranch pork chop. I found my filet mignon to be perfectly cooked and the onion bordelaise to be on point; however, the fingerling potatoes were quite undercooked and I ended up just leaving them on my plate after taking one bite. I would definitely recommend starting with one of their signature cocktails and the crab cake appetizer. Both were generous portions and the crab cakes may be one of the best I've eaten in recent memory Kudos also go out to our server, Gino, who balanced attentiveness and hospitality without being intrusive or overbearing. The only point of improvement I would suggest is regarding the front end staff. We had one elderly, disabled guest with us. We arrived on time and the table was open (in fact, it was early enough that the restaurant was quite empty), it appeared that the perhaps the server had not arrived yet as the hostess told us she would seat us "shortly." The two hostesses focused on wiping menus and chatting amongst themselves and passerbys; whereas, good form would be to notice that one of our guests was struggling immensely to stand with her cane and wait, and offer to seat her at the table and allow her to wait there. A quick refresher course in observation and hospitality may be needed on this front. Overall, we would recommend the Sheldon Inn for special occasion dining, a date night, or simply a nice meal out. Definitely worth the drive out to Elk Grove.

Everything was great-food, service, special touch with complimentary photo and birthday acknowledgement on menu. I requested a booth but was told that booths are reserved for bigger parties but we would be seated in a private area. That was not true. We were seated in the middle of other tables and there was no other private areas. Also, booths seat 4 so a party of 2 could be seated at a booth and there were two booths. Not happy with the ambiance.

It was an amazing experience. The food, Beverages and the entire staff were exceptional ! They were very accomodating and made you feel right at home. we will continue to make another reservationthrough Open Table in the near further>

I was there to celebrate xmas with friends. The food was great, the service great as well. I found the experience a tad pricier than other similar eateries. Although they were busy, noise was not issue. I highly recommend Sheldon Inn .

Ordered a ribeye steak, which was cooked well. The service was excellent. A little expensive, but I would return & recommend.

I am a fan of this spot, go there fairly often on special and semi-special occasions. The food is great. The wine list is thoughtful. The bar is fantastic. The restaurant has great warmth and comfort. The servers and management are top notch. It's not what I would call cheap, more mid-to-upper level pricing. But to me it is totally worth the money. Mos def, one of top 3 restaurants in Elk Grove area.

Food was amazing the service was perfect and it's in Elk Grove! Win Win but it's Pricey! So be prepared for a hefty bill ours was$350.00 before the tip
