Priding ourselves on our motto ‘Famous for fish’ Smiths Restaurants is a name that has become synonymous with fine dining and quality, attentive service. Our restaurants are located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414) and Wapping in central London (near Tower Bridge). Both restaurants boast an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palette. We also offer locally sourced meat dishes to accommodate those who prefer their food terra firma. To compliment the quality of our food we have worked closely with well renowned independent wine merchants to ensure we have a selection of wines that are the perfect accompaniment to every meal. The only problem you may have a Smith’s is being spoilt for choice.

Wonderful meal. Everything was 5 star. All 4 of us enjoyed every course. Staff attentive and very nice.

Lady at the front desk, beautifully turned out, friendly and professional. Unlike most of the Ivy restaurants where the front of desk person is nonchalant and unfriendly. The front of house staff were very professional and ‘on it’ at all times. The younger staff and the runners were also efficient and very helpful, and clearly had received expert training from their more experience work colleagues. A wonderful experience. Thank you and we will certainly be back.

Smiths restaurant in Ongar is just perfect for a special lunch. Food, staff and ambience always excellent. All the meals were delicious and fantastic veggie options. Would thoroughly recommend.

This was our first visit to Smiths but will not be our last. I made the booking for lunch so that my partner and I could enjoy a special meal in celebration of his birthday. It was a great choice. Neither of us have large appetites but we did want to sample and enjoy three courses. Both of us would be driving during the afternoon so a bottle of wine wasn't an option but the glass of champagne we started our meal with was perfect in the circumstances and, with some sparkling water, saw us through lunch. We both made choices from the set lunch menu and were very happy with the flavours, presentation and quantity of each of the courses. We shared a dessert and left the restaurant feeling very satisfied with our meal and the experience overall. The restaurant was busy - fully booked I believe - but the service was never less than efficient and helpful. Many thanks, we had a great time
