This was my second visit to Tamúz, and unlike my first visit, it was quite disappointing. The restaurant's website says it is open till 7 pm, but when we arrived for our 5 pm reservation we were told we must order in the next few minutes because the kitchen was about to close. In this environment one expects a leisurely approach to the meal, especially when arriving two hours before closing. Entrees arrived while we were still eating our starters, no doubt to accommodate the kitchen's early closure. As for the food, the jamón serrano salad was great, as were the fish with chabacana sauce, the ravioli with huitlacoche, and the tortilla soup. The chicken Kiev on the other hand arrived cold and dry (as if it might have been prepared earlier in the day). It did not have the expected filling of garlic butter. The best thing about it was the mustard sauce. The chicken was accompanied by a nearly flavorless puré de camote, which like the chicken was cold. I would have sent the plate back, if not for the fact that by then the kitchen was closed. When I informed the waiter of the problem, there was no apology, only "I'll let the chef know."
