En el año 1940 el señor Franklin E. Barmore compró la tierra donde actualmente se encuentra el restaurante Shrimp Box, para crear un muelle de pesca comercial. Toda la familia Barmore, compuesta por el señor Frank, Edith y su hijo Frank junior, llevaron la gestión del muelle y el mercado de pescado adyacente comprando y vendiendo pescado a través de toda la costa atlántica. En 1953, el señor Franklin, junto con su hijo Frank Junior y esposa (ahora viuda), abrieron un pequeño stand de pescados y mariscos para llevar. El stand tuvo tanto éxito, que después de varios años fue trasladado a la sede del mercado de pescado (donde actualmente se encuentra el lobby y parte de la cocina del restaurante) y se expandió pasando de una capacidad de 4 comensales a 36. Frank Barmore murió en 1982, y dejó la gestión del restaurante a su esposa e hijas. A finales del año 1999, la propiedad del Shrimp Box fue trasladada a Nick Gyftakis y George Pappas. Nick y George han estado juntos, en el negocio de los restaurantes, desde el año 1970. La combinación histórica en restaurantes de ambos socios, hará que su experiencia culinaria sea inolvidable.

    The Shrimp Box is a gem of a restaurant at the Jersey Shore! It’s owned by a wonderful family that is very hands on and takes great pride in what they’ve created! The food is always fresh and fabulous and the wait staff are all very friendly and accommodating! The icing on the cake is the beautiful water views to enjoy while dining. It’s our favorite place for a casual dinner or family celebration.

    We went with a party of 8 to celebrate my son’s confirmation. The service and food were excellent. We love to bring family here from out of town, the beautiful views are a bonus.

    I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Dinner was delicious the service was great. The food came out quickly and the price was very reasonable

    Food and service very good. I was disappointed in the atmosphere because the inside restaurant is so loud. You can't here the person speaking that is seated next to you unless you speak into their ear. As far as other people at your table, it is impossible to have any conversation. For this reason, I would wait in line for an outdoor table. This restaurant has great food and is very busy. I hope that money is invested to add acoustic panels inside.

    Our server Angela was very nice and efficient but it was quite noisy in the restaurant and the food was mediocre at best. Sorry but we won’t be back.

    The food is just unacceptably terrible here. My shrimp scampi tasted like a teriyaki dish? Wow so bad. Calamari was so fishy. Not sure how that’s even possible with the volume they are putting out. This is one of those places that are so busy and it makes zero sense why. Will never come back.
